It’s amazing the baby doesn’t get walked or stepped over by the Mother. Thanks for sharing the video.

Ellie (the mom) is a gentle giant for sure. Amazingly, they all seem to be that way. I saw a video of an elephant being born. After the baby sort of fell to the ground, the mother was stepping over it, back and forth, feeling the baby with her trunk to make sure she was ok. The baby wasn’t moving so the mother gently kicked it a few times, frantically stepping back and forth over the baby again. She didn’t step on it once. Finally, after one last “kick”, the baby started moving and making noise. (I think “the kick” is kinda like “the baby slap” in a human) It was pretty amazing how she didn’t step on it or hurt it, even though she couldn’t really see what she was doing. Even more amazing is how she knew what to do to get the baby breathing 🙂
